I chose these two works by Affandi to represent one aspect of Indonesian art. Affandi is one of Indonesia's most well known modern artists. He was born in Cirebon, West Java but traveled to India and many other countries throughout his lifetime. His art is essentially influenced by Indonesian culture, but also represents flavors of the other cultures he has experienced. I believe these two art pieces give insight into not only the style and design of art in Indonesia, but also give a little glance into the country's history.
